Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.
Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-workingand honest (except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house And what a deal it is for me!!!
I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

I see no problem with people getting special permits to come across the borders and do the work Americans aren't going to do, and work that needs to be done.
The problem I have is because they do this they think they have a right to go to the front of the line in the immigration process.
I am surprised to see people talking about immigration related to work.
I am a legal immigrant not here to work but to be with the woman I love. So, do we need to talk always about work and not love? My wife is American, my son is Franco/American and I am French. I like very much this country and feel like home either in America or my own country France.
What every immigrants need to keep in mind are to adapt and to respect the country who welcome us, but that's just my point of view.
If you show respect to people, they will respect you.
A country is announcing its manpower shortage. In fact, they posted on the web all the necessary skills needed to qualify for migration. I don't see any problem on migration, unless the person inters the country illegally.
I Tend to disagree with some of the legal practices on Immigration myself. Just to make sure we are on the same page - I LOVE my Country & none of this should be construed otherwise, I simply have personal issues with a few minor practices within the governing parties.
About 5 blocks from my house is a Mini-Mart owned by a family of Indian Migrants from India. They went through all the proper processes & received citizenship in America 100% legally.
Now heres where my personal conflict comes into play - While I think Omar (The store Owner) & his family are Great people, I find that the way they got into business was a little disturbing.
Because of their nationality The U.S. Government Granted them a Small Business Grant (A Grant never has to be paid back, just so you know) along with Tax Exemption status for 2 years (Meaning they don't have to pay any sales taxes on their business for that amount of time).
Their 3 children received Free Educational Grants so they can all go to collage, also due to their nationality.
The thing that troubles me the most is the concept of a Minority in my own country. A Minority is basically any Non-Caucasian Human being Male or Female - an added kicker is that the Caucasian female is also listed as a minority. Once you subtract all that from the equation it leaves only one - the Caucasian Male -
There are Free grants for ALL minority groups / Classifications - Yet the Caucasian Male has None (Unless of course they qualify through a % of native heritage).
I suppose I have to ask the question I have been leading up to know...
Shouldn't an Immigrant Have to work just as hard as a Born & Raised national in order to start a business & go to college - Or is it truly ethical to ONLY make the Born & Raised Nationals Pay while the Immigrants get a free ride & special favors?
Again, I Love My country, This is just an area I find questionable. What are your thoughts?

Scorpionagency this is very difficult to answer. I never get any special advantages.
I will say I really suffer about the conflict with French and Americans and shouldn't exist at all, but the couple Chirac/Devillepin had dammaged our reputation, this is a shame because they engaged the French people to play their own game.
I love my country, but not always agreed with the French politic.

How many caucasian males in the US?
How many non-caucasian people in the US?
How many caucasian males in the US?
How many non-caucasian people in the US?
Wouldn't those numbers make you a minority???
Exactly, Well put.. if you crunch the numbers, I would be the true Minority.. But hey, I have to follow the Governments guidelines on the description of what a Minority is..

If it was that easy, More people would be attempting dictations on running their government from the couch as they watch jay leno or CNN....
