NJ Bans Death Penalty
Quote:
Members of victims' families fought against the law.
"I will never forget how I've been abused by a state and a governor that was supposed to protect the innocent and enforce the laws," said Marilyn Flax, whose husband Irving was abducted and murdered in 1989 by death row inmate John Martini Sr.
Richard Kanka, Megan's father, noted Corzine signed the bill exactly 15 years to day that death row inmate Ambrose Harris kidnapped, raped and murdered 22-year-old artist Kristin Huggins of Lower Makefield, Pa..
"Just another slap in the face to the victims," Kanka said.

Not every case is in black and white.
A DP must be involved in the process of dealing with heinous criminals.
The DP is not on the books as a deterrent for ‘bad’ behavior, it is there to cull and preserve the village.
A criminal mind will do as it pleases, without regard to consequence.
The DP only does 2 things, the departed will never, well, 1) do it again, but more importantly, 2) they will no longer spawn.
This is not over the top nor is it Hitler-esque.
Criminals procreate faster and in higher numbers than honest and intelligent humans. By the sheer #s alone we will be outnumbered with a majority of our resources pouring out to safeguard our communities and in turn litigate ourselves into a less than free society.
Every being does not have a right to be safe. Every being does, however, deserve a right to exist. You forego that right by killing and raping wantonly.
The process starts with you, the citizen. The person that makes the decision to carry out a DP is voted in by you and retains his/her position by you.
I believe in civil liberties. I believe freedom comes with a price.

The Death of the Death Penalty thread seems as good a place any to say what I have to say....
John - I finally found a seriously good business opportunity that someone's actually paying me to take advantage of! Most would call it a job, but it's building a new business unit for a large company (yes, online). So...
I got VERY busy and couldn't take time to visit your great forums. I'm sorry for that because I thoroughly enjoyed popping in here for some stimulating talk. Truly a special place you have here! Even the nice "we miss you" email was unique. While I know it wasn't directed to me, it struck a chord because I missed you guys.
Any ways, Merry Christmas to you John and send virtual hugs to the great gang of friends and elves you have around that make it the best of the best as far as forums go!
As for the NJ death penalty thing... Why is it that democrats spend more energy trying to protect criminals and terrorists then citizens, cops, and our soldiers? I just don't understand what they really want in the long run? Are they on Putin's and Chavez' team?

I've never understood how the death penalty has any place in civilized society.

People equate civility with their own reality
Bhutto dies along with 22 others and even more people are dead in the aftermath.
It reminds me of when Bird died; all of the other jazz musicians went out and got high to honor him. I did the same when SRV died; I went to my little woodworking shop in Smiley TX and drank a black label in his honor.
Quite a difference here though.
My point, which is way the funk off in the distance here (*whistles* c’mon boy…good point *pats point on head*)
A reality is only as good as its dweller
If death and brutality were to rule this earth, it would by now. The meek have and will always, be inherent.
If I cite the cognoscente of this couple I will unwillingly cite a 2+2 rule and it has no place here in this discussion. 2x2 works just as well.
Do not feather arguments with intentions.
The point at which a human makes the decision between right and wrong, may be unknown to them. But at a point, right and wrong do exist, and they do know the difference.
Everyone knows right from wrong.
Even the criminally insane.
It is, just as love and hate.

You are correct, should get rid of it, keeps dragging on for years anyway.
Just send to them GOD, and let him judge them within 48 hours of convictions.
Quite simple I would say. Would have us tax payers lots of money.
