Wow! what a slap in the American face..........
I remember a day, not so distant I don't think when we all heard a constant message...."United We Stand, Divided We Fall".....I remember A Very Not Distant Day When after all those years we again FELT those words at the very core of our hearts and souls when the plains flew into the World Trade Center Buildings. Well, we are getting a look today exactly how far those that stand divided can and will fall.
We as a United States of America are facing an enemy like none ever conceived or faced in modern times. We are facing an enemy with the hatred and the mind set of those that lived thousands of years ago, only equipped with modern technology. Not a threat to a coastal or a neighboring country but to the entire population of the globe!
The only way to defeat or fend off such adversaries is to stand steady and united. Democratic societies however have never been known throughout history for their stamina of long time war. That's even worse now with the CNN's and MSNBC's trying to create the shadow of defeat and wrongism in every gullable mind they can get to hear them.
Durring a long period of Clintonism states became overly dependent on the Federal government to fund their overly inflated programs and to slip back on their haunches and not have to be as fiscally independant or responsible for themselves. This if you remember was the first and largest scream about what was so wrong with President Bush was his determination to once again make states accountable for their own economic policies and practices as well as leading us away from the Clintonesque socialist style of living where everyone is dependent on the government to tell them what they should or what they are able to do.
Even now the economy is slowing not just because of a war or some other stimulus but mostly because the media and yes democrats are convincing everyone they can get to listen that we are in a recession and the economy is so so bad. In actuallity it is the message they are screaming out so loud that is causing the recession......a recession is not everyone not having money but simply everyone not spending what they have....don't get me wrong, things aren't economically great for everyone, but if everyone wasn't pounded every hour how bad things are, they would probably go out and spend some money, this in turn would encourage businesses and industries to expand and grow, this in turn would create more jobs, in return also giving more money to everyone that either already has some or those that as of yet don't.........
I'll quit for now, trying to catch up for all the months I've been away in one post I guess LoL......

The nuclear issue is the only reasonable issue, even in this topic.
Wake up, people.

When state populations start to dwindle by the multiple thousands from a bio attack, do you think we'll retaliate in like manner? I think not. Retaliation will be much swifter.

Nukes aren't a huge issue. Even Pakistan has nukes, and they don't go beserk with them.

Science produced the problem, I see no reason why it cannot be solved by same.
Wake up, scientists.

If we want to fix anything, I honestly think that we need to start there. I suspect scientists will stumble upon the answer, just like they did the problem. But I have this funny feeling that they'd better hurry up.

What is this about the scientists? What do they have to do with anything about the government? Or did I miss something?

Apparently.
Try reading the thread again. I have to do that all the time. It usually helps. Not always though, but, I'd say it might be worth a shot, it's a short thread so far.

Well...I did see how you brought science and scientists into it, I'm just having a difficult time with the true connectionism is all :-) I mean scientist may have created the nukes after they were funded and prompted by those in governmental positions, that's also true with bio weapons. But it's the people that hold the power of the governments and support of the military that supposedly and hopefully have the ultimate control of such things. By doing away with the federal government and going into 50+ mini federal governments (god, such a scary thought.....just look at California with San Fran, and Berkley) or Chicago with it's immense history of deep seeded corruption and mob ties. Just the thought of 50 mini federal governments all working independently of each other is just too staggering to imagine.........you want the real answer......
Well some answers any how......Those that are found to be corrupt or breaking the law, both federal and state.......prosecute them and make them suffer, don't give them cushy sentences or let them off, make breaking the law something to be avoided for reason.
Those in our own government that are leaking information, be it to the press or to those very ones trying to do us harm.....Prosecute them! for TREASON!......Those caught stealing confidential files from congressional libraries or any government institution....Prosecute Them!.....make breaking the law and betraying your country a thing to be ashamed of and to be feared.........Those that are manipulating a system only because they are attempting to regain or retain power to an extreme that actually causes harm to the very thing they are supposed to be protecting.....prosecute them! ridicule them.....get rid of them!
Actually....to sum it up really simply make breaking the law, being unethical, being destructive something that is punished and looked badly at. And make the punishment something that people actually worry about avoiding.....not something like sandy burger or what ever his name was got...I mean please....

Oh and by the way.....look back at your Reagan years...folks talked just as badly about him as they do Bush, they hated him just as much if not more....now he is remembered as one of our best Presidents......also remember his stance and speeches....protection by strength weakness does nothing but invite others to bring harm to you......And even though you may not like the fact that we have Nukes, or that we have Biological agents or other unmentionables but you better bet your ass that the little Husseins, Chavez's, Castro's, and every other little pee on out there will continue to do everything they can to get it and to keep it when they do....and if you think that some of the little pee on's don't already have it you're living in a dream world.....
I guess we should just lay down everything we have and then the rest of the world will just go to sleep and continue on with just concentrating on themselves and forget that we are even here? I really don't get the Berkley and San Franciscolite mentality of put down your arms let them come kill us all.....they're the same ones that would be first to scream out that the government didn't do enough to stop it.....I just don't get it.....
I know I'm sounding a little spiteful about some of this stuff but it's hard doing stupid sometimes

Dang, you're a fast thinker/poster, thegamerslink.
It's just that I honestly do not have faith in humankind to get us out of this nuclear dilemma, short of a scientific discovery by one or two of us, before it's too late.

50 state governments are currently in existence. Is that scary? Those 50 state governments are much more responsible than the Federal government, fiscally and otherwise.
Sure, California has a budget issue, but that is because they are irresponsible, and it's nowhere near the level of the Federal government.
Most states are in better shape than California.
And it's not like we will be lacking government. We still have the city governments and county governments on top of the state governments for corrupt politicians to get fat off of.
