Dissolve the Federal Government
The Federal Government is a waste of money. The states should just secede one by one until the Feds are left with the District of Columbia.

We tried that once and the Feds slaughtered our families, burned our crops, killed our livestock, raped our women, took our land, and put us through a "reconstruction" program that we're still reeling from. God bless Abe.
I doubt they'd try that again today. It's a little harder to nail doors shut and burn families inside with CNN cameras rolling. If you have a plan I'm in.

You must work within the system, no matter how corrupt it is, to change the system.

No more FBI? No more opportunities to say 'Don't make a federal case out of it'? What about National Defense? Seems like a hell of a lot of obstacles to this.

A few things I don't know the answers to...
Would the states declare war? Against each other? Would we still have national armed forces? Would we just rip up the constitution and defer to state constitutions? And what about currency? Would the states all print/mint their own like in the colonies and early union? Would all of the states have their own foreign policy?
The poll raises a lot of questions for me...

By far I have no government or historical political knowledge, I leave it to those who have agendas
as i see it
if...
The United States business is business
So wouldn't that be the equivalent of breaking up our company?
Leaving it vulnerable to be picked off one by one, whether by foreign or domestic rival companies?
And then after another 250 years we would be back in the same situation just a bit harder to corral the corruptive entities.
Our problem is our company is not working to better itself or care for it's employees.
And to keep with my analogy, the employees are stealing from the company way too much, we cant just blame our problems on management.
Solutions?
I have no idea...
But this idea that we have that our government is against us needs to be dealt with and squashed before what South mentioned earlier recreates itself unwillingly.
Maybe we need to raise the Pentagon again...

That mindset comes from misunderstanding the purpose of America. I live in Georgia. It's my country. It's a sovereign entity with it's own constitution, government, and military.
You live in Texas I think? Same thing. Texas is a state (state=country). It's own constitution, laws, government, ect.
The union was a good idea. What if we shared a common military? We'd be stronger. A common dollar? Strength and simplicity (Like the Euro, many countries...one currency).
People need to get out of the mindset that America is one big whole and the states just smaller pieces of it. The states are the wholes. They are the sovereign states with identified borders. The union is just that, a union. An agreement between states to share certain things for the overall strength it provides to the group.
I say secede. Like minded states can draw up new alliances amongst themselves. God knows we'd get along better as friendly neighbors than we do trying to cram our personal preferences down each others throats. In 200 years when that gets corrupt we can do it all over again.

Each state will require it's own nukes. Sounds like a real blast.

Exactly. Right now the cultures are so different, and we have certain groups trying to legislate their morality into all 50 states.
