How to get a general understanding of whether to use web site builders?

A few years ago I developed websites on the CMS WordPress and now I see that other market participants like Wix, Tilda, ucoz, weblium.com, on technologies are much faster and more convenient than WordPress.
What are alternatives to site designers?

What kind of alternatives are you looking for?

There are many factors as to why one would want to or not want to use a DIY builder. Why I, personally, wouldn't have one:

1) - you have less control over your environment. 2) - when you out grow the DIY, you can't take your site with you. 3) - some DIY builders require you to have separate email hosting accounts. + more...

WordPress - you have total control but you should have your own hosting account. WP is as fast as you configure it, depending on your network and hosting facility. Some hosting companies are fast (more money), some are average (most hosts) and some are slow (cheap hosting).

There's more, but you have to think about security as well. Maybe someone else can chime in on that point.
