How long has it taken you to start receiving consistent traffic?

I have developed sites for businesses that had physical brick and mortar locations which were I started getting a lot of traffic rather quickly but when it comes to online stores it seems to be more difficult or takes longer to start getting traffic. On average how long does it take for you to start generating traffic.

Very open ended question. Someone using paid promotions can start getting instant traffic.

davesells 08-01-2017 10:42 PM

Sorry I should have been more specific but I wasn't looking for the easy way.

If you generate paid post then you get traffic quickly, but if not then you want to start link building for this..

Depends on your keyword position or paid traffic.

It took me more than a year. This is because I had to create backlinks to my website and that takes time to do.

I used facebook groups and it helped me to get good traffic in a month.

We cannot define how long time does it can take for bringing traffic to your site, all you can do is make your site SEO friendly and wait for the perfect time. Hence, if you have followed the guidelines of google and designed your site according to it, then your traffic is not far from you.

I think good content will bring good traffic to any web site.

If you add goo content on regular basis than it takes 4 to 6 months. Yes seo is long term and difficult task, one have to work day and night.

One well-placed backlink or targeted social interactions can bring traffic almost immediately, not 4-6 months.

I do use Udimi for that reason. It's a paid traffic source, but I'm always sure I get new leads and sales.

If you want organic, free traffic it can take maybe from half year to a year or two, it just depends on the efforts, quality of the content.

Speaking about quality of the content - this plays one of the biggest parts. If your content is not useful or interesting, you can do tons of promoting and still not get enough traffic. That sounds rough, but it's true.

I love it when people throw out numbers just because they think sound right, or even worse, important.

Well, in this case it's wrong. A well crafted web page, blog post with feasible keywords used can be indexed have good ranking without having to wait up to two years. Sheesh!

X_Gen 09-03-2017 08:54 PM

As I remember, it took us 3-4 years to realize a significant rise in traffic. And then it pretty much maintained up there. It can take time, maybe slower than the others, but we're at a good place right now, so I'm good.

bywaterdigital 09-04-2017 08:43 AM

For me, the 1 year mark seems to be when a website gets a good foothold in the SERPS with modest efforts made. Obviously the more effort you put in the shorted this time frame gets, but don't hold too high hopes for results in less than 3 months.

Here's a case study that'll help answer your question https://www.searchenginejournal.com/...results/91241/

I believe I said the truth. To get CONSISTENT traffic (which creator of the thread asked) can take about half year, for some others even more. I didn't say that it's two years with no exceptions. That's why I highlighted that it depends on the quality of content, etc.

I read many threads where people are asking for help because they have their websites for months, they promote their sites throughout social media platforms, use SEO and still don't get consistent traffic. I think I was simply realistic.

We do not know if creator of the thread has a well crafted site or not, how much time he spends on his websites, and all that.
