What hosting provider?

Hi

I am very much a newbie when it come to webdesign and hosting etc so advice would be appreciated.

I am currently on a 3 month free trial for VPS from Serverchoice - I have about 4 domains which i use but unfortunately the service and support from them is terrible so i need to switch.

Can anyone suggest a hosting solution which will support Wordpress designed websites including being able to do the permalink redirects etc? should I go for the VPS solution or the a normal hosting solution? Cost is an isue but reliability and support is more important. An intuitive control panel is also could as I am limited technically and for time.

Any suggestions appreciated

How many websites are you planning to host and what is your budget?

Are you managing these sites yourself or do you need to allow others to have cPanel access to them?

If you are doing the site management yourself, I'd recommend my host, www.bluehost.com I've been hosting multiple sites there for a little over a year. Unfortunately, they don't offer any reseller plans.

Adding domains is very easy to do and their support (the few times that I've needed it) has been excellent.

Price ranges from $9.95 on a month-by-month basis down to $6.95 per month for a two-year term. (Six-month and one year plans are also available.) They offer a full prorated refund if you decide to switch hosting companies within that period.

If you are locking to use for only 1 domain.Try the first plan from hostgator.

He has about 4 domain names and seems that he is looking to move from VPS to VPS ad Hostgator do not offer VPS as far as I know.

Yes true. I think vpsland to be a good option.

Serverpoint.com pricing is extremely affordable as well, plus their deals are managed, you should only check how they understand what management is as different hosts see it in a different way.

Check out liquidweb, lunarpages, westhost, and hostican for VPS. Westhost has really reasonable prices for VPS.

Go with VPS plans from LiquidWeb or LunarPages. Thery're both reliable from my experience.

Gate works well for me, I'm hosting 4 sites and it's vps are well priced.

ForumSecure 08-28-2008 07:48 PM

I would get a dedicated server from HostGator.

The best method on finding a good hosting company is searching some large web hosting forums for honest reviews. Be skeptical with each review because some arent legit

I know this is my first post, but I provide Unmetered Bandwidth, Unlimited Disk Space, and Unlimited Domains for $6.95 a month. If you are interested please visit www.RZwebhost.com

Any decent Linux hosting would satisfy your requirements. PHP+MySQL+cPanel is pretty standard and you get all you want to set up a wordpress based site.

You may not need a VPS unless you have special requirements like root access, security issues or heavy traffic. For mderate traffic,a good shared hosting would be more than enough.

Locomotive 08-31-2008 11:18 PM

Taking the advantage of the opportunity, I can recommend you a good hosting company Marblehost.com, as it is focused on delivering shared hosting plans. Prices are not very high and 99.9% network uptime guarantee. I can assure you that this company will satisfy your needs.

You should think of GlowHost.com as this company has been in the web hosting company for a long while. And they provide a wide range of hosting services that are not very expensive. Recommend you them.
