Some SEO experts are offering me to do wiki links for my website. so my question is how this links will help for ranking up website on search engine? do you know any sample wiki site for my review where they will do backlinks for my site?

Hey Kate,
Wiki backlinks are most of the time nofollow. However, it can help you for ranking up your website. In fact wikipedia's articles are published on other websites such as Answers.com where they are related="external dofollow".
I recommend you to make these links by your own, but don't spam: only link when it is related to the content of the page.
From my own experience, Wikia links are better for your SEO ;)

Yes said by Brunner, you yourself can get wiki links instead of hiring or assigning some one to do this. Also keep in mind that you can paste your links in the "External Links" section of the wiki article and it must be more relevant and useful to that article, only then your links will get accepted.

wiki links .. well let me tell you mostly all are no follow ..

but question is are they effective ??

yes they do as google gives more open pressure and more weightage on this kind of linking and thinks that this links are very authorized which they are ..

wiki backlinks are nofollow links i think these are very effective for improvement of traffic towards website but not for SERP
