Losing positioning on high-volume generic terms can trigger panic, even if the drop only lasts for a short period of time. However, in the majority of instances, it is possible to find out exactly the reason why.

When you understand what caused a ranking drop, you can determine what actions to take to recover from it. Here is a 10-point checklist to run through should you encounter a loss of positioning.

If your site drops, it may be because of the high level of competition among other similar websites in the same niche with you who may have carried out some on-page and off-page SEO methods to beat off competitors. it may also be that you are carrying out blackhat SEO which Google frowns at.

Link profile analysis: How to prevent penalties by being proactive

Another good blog post.

Quote:

As most SEOs know, links are still extremely important to ranking highly in the Google search results. In fact, a recent study performed by Backlinko showed that “the number of domains linking to a page correlated with rankings more than any other factor.”

Thus, it makes sense for most all large companies with a significant website presence to implement a regular link pruning schedule. At ymarketing, we call our process of link pruning “link remediation.”

The normal way most sites handle a penalty is reactionary in nature. The SEO wakes up one day and finds the scariest of emails an SEO can receive in their inbox: They have been hit with a manual penalty.

Once they notice the manual penalty email, they scramble to analyze their site’s backlink profile. They find they have indulged in one too many link exchanges or article marketing techniques.

Depending on how bad it is, it can take weeks or even months to clean up the link profile before submitting a reconsideration request. At a past employer, I spent almost eight months helping to remove or disavow over 260,000 backlinks to remove a manual penalty. The effort was successful, but it was an astronomical undertaking, and the business lost untold revenue from organic search traffic during those eight months.

Does changing the keyword in the Signature link, also affects the keyword ranking?

I also want to know about this question which was you asked @kiran Desai.
Is really give affects to keyword ranking by changing the keyword in the signature link?

snakeair 08-17-2016 07:40 AM

It changes it as keywords get indexed then if it changes, Google will take notice and chances are your ranking falls as every post you make on a forum that link juice may not be strong..etc

Besides don't post of forums just to get backlinks for your signature. The people who do this usually end up banned anyways.

None of these sites show anywhere near the full amount of back links.

I use combination of 3 to get somewhere near the full picture.

There is a good blog post by Matthew woodward where he compares them all. His test site which has nearly 500k back links, confirmed by google, had ahrefs returning no more than 9% of the links, and they did the best!

I don't know more about those paid service like ahrefs but most of bloggers are use Ahrefs to track their backlinks. So i just want to know ahrefs really give accurate data of backlinks? Because its paid services and i want to know review of this service before buying ahrefs service.

Did you read the resource at the beginning of this thread to double check all the ideas of why you might have a reduced number of visitors?

As @ chetan mentioned above that competition among the related website is growing on constact speed. So you have to see what different your competitor has done. As on page not gone to do effect much, so off page would only be the reason, why you have got sudden fall in traffic. Usually high Page Backlink and DA would effect. And don't consdier ever that you have skipped in traffic, there is something which your competitor has done better than you.

Just seven days back my clients site had encountered this problem the site was on the 11th or 12th position of Google then suddenly it went on the 6th page of google search result.

When I have discussed on different forum and blog, I have get the idea that it was a case of poor back-linking and the site got penalized by Google.

Actually before me another person has done SEO over the site and when I have start doing SEO, I have also tried to make links over similar sites where he had also made. So GoogleBot cathched it and they penalised the site.

To fix the problem I have disavow those new links that I have created and not my site is again on the 2nd page.

Since the new animal updates sites don't get penalised as such, the poor links get ignored.

Have you done anything that disobey google algorithm. If then it will get you hard to rank again. If your rank is dropping then check your competitor, are they doing better check your links profile where are they coming from. don't give up do what you need to
