Does Placing Outbound Links Help Ranking?
I have recently read that you should place an outbound link to a relevant high page rank site in your posts. Does this somehow add to the credibility to your page? I wasn't sure to dismiss what they said or not...

I wouldn't dismiss it at all. Having links going out to authority sites are good. I think it does give your site a bit of added credit if you link to a quality, authority site.

Nine times out of ten if these authority sites sees that you are linking to them, they may give you a link back from their site as well...

I have had great success linking out to reliable and authoritative sites from my articles. This is how I basically built my incoming links and PR before all the social networking/bookmarking stuff came into play.

We all want our sites to be popular, the hub of your chosen niche. You do this by providing valuable information that people want to link to.

Are You Linking Out? You Should Be

Providing valuable information has a snowball effect. Good valuable content and information = getting talked about on and off line = incoming links from all kinds of people
