And the moral of the story: If you haven't got the balls for it, don't do it!

You are comparing apples to oranges. The first article notes that smoking pot causes cancer. This is kind of a given, considering the fact that pot smoke contains "marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke".

The articles you offer in rebuttal, however, deal with active ingredients in pot.

The moral of the story is, a lot of things that would be good for you if you didn't smoke them are bad for you when you light them on fire and inhale the smoke. :)

I see... You mean if not to smoke weed but consume THC with some other method - everything is OK?

Overall, I have a postiton of nothing ventured, nothing gained;)

That would seem to be the position supported by the articles cited. Frankly, I've tried weed and didn't like it so I'm not really that interested in the topic.

The legal aspects of it, I am interested in, and believe that it should be legal. No, I put that wrong. It should never have been made illegal. The persons who made it illegal did so in a dishonest fashion (read up on it) and when law enforcement detains people for selling/smoking/growing it, they are violating the rights of the persons being detained and the law enforcement, in those cases, are acting criminally.

Holy crap! We agree on something! *Quickly checks Hell's tourism board to see if that ski-lodge opened*
The textile business in the 30s was pretty savage. The irony was that it was legal, but insanely costly. The prices in the '37 act would actually be pretty lame by today's standards, and traders would probably more than happily pay the tax. As for who made it illegal, I'm pretty certain that it was one of Nixon's pet projects.
But onto the law enforcement aspect of it, I'm always amazed at how we get news of these large American federal drug busts in the news here, but no one in the States ever hears of them. I assume it's because these busts are generally on medical marijuana facilities that are actually sanctioned by state governments.

I love a good smoke, and marijuana isn't an exception, although I only use it at parties as I like to get work done during the week. Frankly, I've NEVER seen people who are stoned getting aggressive like people who are drunk, and they're usually too baked to even bother getting behind the wheel of a car.
I've yet to see a single negative side effect to it that isn't exactly the same as pack-a-day person would suffer from.

Those are the words of the man who REALLY knows!! Really weed is much better than any alcohol... I am completely agree with you Harveyj!
And also, Tobacco causes cancer, as nicotine is a poison, while THC is NOT...
