301 Redirect Assistance

I've been going over the domain that I have listed in my Google Webmaster Tools and have found that I get a note.

The note roughly says that I should make a "301 redirect" to capitalize from the www of the domain as well as the base domain itself.

Does anyone know how I can go about letting Google see both of these urls as one site with a "301" redirect?

Thanks in advance..

You can check for great information online for redirection,
here's what I found online htaccess redirect

Redirect to www

Create a .htaccess file with the below code, it will ensure that all requests coming in to domainDOTcom will get redirected to wwwDOTdomainDOTcom
The .htaccess file needs to be placed in the root directory of your website (i.e the same directory where your index file is placed)
PHP Code:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
rewritecond
%{http_host} ^domain.com [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [r=301,nc]

works on Linux servers having the Apache Mod-Rewrite module enabled
this webpage http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php has most useful information if you are running a different server.
Also Google webmasters tool will allow you to set your preferred domain
sign in to webmasters tool,
and in it under site configuration option you will have another option for setting
and there you see preferred domain options
(I use this option all the time)

Thanks for the links and the code for the htaccess file. Will place it later to see if some of the website graders can see it.
