There is an apparent update SEOs are calling the Google Fred update which targets low quality sites. Review the posts in the list linked above to see if your site meets the criteria of being hit.

It's either that or you have been hacked and Google noticed. Have you checked your site pages indexed with the site:yourdomain.com operator to see if you have been hacked or have you gotten any notices from Google Search Console (if you are signed up for that).

Fred is the latest Google algorithm update, caused quite a stir with webmasters as a number of sites dropped drastically in rankings. You should search on Google for more information.

Even i saw ranking drops on my website(Its a new website though, very few pages). Keywords ranking on 2nd page were shifted to 6th page approximately.

I am facing the same problem, Google’s Fred update hit low-value content sites that focus on revenue only not users.

Check if you got hit with Google update and fix the content. there are sites which do not get affected by Google updates because they work the best way.

CarolineMurphy89 03-17-2017 05:12 AM

Everybody is facing the issue because of Google updates. You should check your webmaster that did you receive any message?

Small drop but not a huge drop, a hundred of sessions.

hariomyogarishikesh 03-19-2017 12:20 AM

I face same problem for my site. I lost 60% of overall traffic within 2 days.

For the moment we cannot be sure that Google Fred Update even exists, let alone to correlate it to a link or content issue.

my website' traffic redue these day, too. I think google have a new update. It's an annual google' update.

techguy99 03-30-2017 04:23 AM

Could it be that your competitors has done some SEO and this has pushed them up above you for those keywords. I used to rank at first position for a long tail keyword but my competitors obviously noticed and did SEO work to push their sites for the same terms which eventually dropped mine from top of 1st page to bottom of page which was a big drop in traffic. From 900 visitors down to 150

Bridgie 03-30-2017 09:02 AM

Do you know specifically what pages are not showing anymore? Take a look into your analytics to determine that. I've been in a situation twice where a specific page stops showing on google search results - it must have been caught up or not indexed when google did their algorithm update. I submitted the site to google again, and the page showed up within minutes in the exact spot they were before.

hrishivardhan 03-30-2017 11:48 PM

If your site has a low content with no use than you may be hit by the fred update. check out for it and try to recover from it.

johnclarketwo 03-31-2017 05:26 AM

Sudden drop in traffic does not mean that you have been penalized by Google. It might also possible some technical issue with your site. Have you check your site health? Have checked Google Search console? It will help you to figure out the issues which caused the sudden traffic drop. Solve the crawl errors that search console shows use screaming frog to find out the pages that has issues.

And one more thing I would like to recommend is to check server log. If you see any unusual activity in log than your site might got hacked. Resolve the issues and you will receive the traffic again.
