Advertisement Placement
I have never had advertising on my Photo Restoration website but now I am going to start.
My question is if I sign up with an affiliate do I place their ad where I want, I mean on a page I think is relavent to their product or should I place it on the index page? So I guess what I mean is can I have different ads on different pages or should the ads be the same for every page?

as you can tell I am very new to website advertising.

You can place there ad where ever you want to. I have a column on my blog that i put up some banner ads that appear on all pages.

Why do i do this?

Well, don't matter what page the visitor is on, he or she will still see that banner ad and hopefully click on it to buy the product.

Most website owners who have affiliate programs, tend to have some rules on there affiliate page. If there is no rules then like i said, put the ad up anywhere you want to on your website. Just make sure it's in a place that get's seen a lot. You want people to see it to give you a chance at making money off that visitor.

Each affiliate program/network will have their own rules on ad placement.

However - as a general rule, you should place the ad in a prominent place that people will most likely see it and therefore possibly click on it and go through to the advertiser's site. This tends to mean the ad should be "above the fold" (viewable to the user on the page without having to scroll down) - or even within the content.

ad placement

generally ads placed on the header and within the post i.e. after the title and before the post or within the post are good. Also text ads are better than the photo ads as the cpc is better for text ads.

One should also look at the heatmap for one's site. There are plugins available with which you can find out which part of the site the mouse has moved frequently. Accordingly you can place your ads.
