How much money would it take to set you free?

1 billion

About $5 million AUD.

or anything else....

If there are no pensions or government payments for retired individuals included, $1 million would suffice two people living modestly for 25 years in the US or Canada. Anything less than that would affect housing, food, travel, repairs (house and car) etc.

That said, in a different part of the world, $100,000. might be enough to live on. It really depends on where you live and/or if you have any equity in a home that might be used to supplement living expenses by downsizing from a bigger home to smaller one.

This only scratches the surface...

I'm not sure if I really have a "set free" limit when it comes to money. I think when I feel like I'm not limited..

I am free...I do pretty much as I please to be honest. If I stopped working i would just be bored. Luckily I only work for 40% of the week nowadays...I spend the other 60% taking my kids to sport training!

60K would set me free I think.. It would pay off the rest of my mortgage and car. I make money online so if I didn't have any bills I could travel the world, which is what I hope to do one day.. It would be much easier with no mortgage and car payment.. One of these days I'll get there, hopefully.

davidnguyen 05-20-2017 09:41 PM

only 1 million dollars for my freedom

I think that would not end till one year when you have lots of money you spent like there is no end.

For me 1500$ each month will make me free i will spend 1000$ on freelancer for the work and 500$ would be for my livelihood.

ScriptMan 06-05-2017 05:48 AM

The answer is going to vary depending on the consumptiveness (sp?) of the life style you feel you need.

"Free in 83" (1983) was my motto for that year. That was the year I paid off the mortgage on my primary home. You might be surprised just how free you feel once you only have to cover taxes, insurance and utilities to have a home.

You can have anything you want but you may not be able to have everything you want. It is all about focus.

gs_ng 08-23-2017 03:03 AM

$10k per month, $120k a year, 10 years is $1.2m, which is good for me.

vamurali12 08-23-2017 10:36 AM

I need $20k for month to meet all my expenses. Yearly $2M enough

KeepItSimple 08-23-2017 10:47 AM

I feel that the answer will change the more we have. Also with more money there come new problems and worries.

But anyway, for me if it is a month, some 5 digit number would be good. For a one time thing, several millions should do it.

So $5 million won't do it? Not enough interest from $5 mil to live off? I think that would be a minimum of around $250,000 per year.

seangugerty 09-29-2017 02:52 AM

I live off nothing pretty much. I've never had a million but when I had a substantial amount of thousands, I notice its really hard not to flip your money into more money. When you have the means to put forth capitol, it seems come ups just walk right into you :D

Ian Zonja 09-29-2017 09:15 AM

1 mill and all set :)

Badgag 09-30-2017 02:31 PM

1.200.000 usd would be enough, having that in a index found with a 5% avg return would be enough to live off that and never work a day again.

mastermindmoney 10-01-2017 01:03 PM

$10 million would be decent for me! I would invest most of it though and probably build a business that is very profitable.
