Reseller business dying?
Hello!
I must I admit that I have noticed that number of companies which offer reseller web hosting reducing.
Most people who were in the reseller business switched to VPS.
So reseller web hosting is dying?

I guess it is not dying, because many people still wish to start their business namely from reselling. I think it is just reducing, this field became less popular these days...

The think the only reason vps won't last long due to the amount of resource it has is not sufficient for for serving services. Moreover, oversellers on these hypervising causing these resources more limited.

If people want to oversell they will oversell for the end users even using VPS

The reseller compettition is very severe - far not everyone manges to hold successfull business. I think people look for simplier ways of staqrting their business.

It's getting more and more difficult to compete with so many reseller companies but still this kind of hosting services is growing and flourishing.

It is becoming more and more difficult to get new guys on board because today the marketing costs have drastically risen and you just type Hosting in google and you get hundreds of guys who are more popular (purely bcoz of SEO tactics) and most of them are your service providers!
However, there is so much demand out there, i doubt that "reseller hosting" business is fading. I mean, I am doing pretty bad myself but i aint losing hope coz i still see demand rising. But i agree with Hahh, I'd like to switch to dedicated hosting to make things simpler for me.

Most people who were in the reseller business switched to VPS does not means that reseller hosting business is dying because there are also possibility that people are also shifting from shared hosting to reseller similar way or directly signing up to a reseller plan.

If you look at the number of customers which have leaders of the industry (they are hostgator, innohosting, resellerzoom) you will realize that reseller business is still here and in the demand

Actually yes but at the same time that is not easy to manage all customers and server if you do not have skills

I don't think it is. If you visit some of the high-traffic webmaster forums, you can see the no. of new web hosts popping out each day. Most of these are founded by new webmasters (who think there is a lot of money to be made via web hosting and the business is a cake-walk) who sign up for a reseller plan with a big host and start advertising their services. Most of them don't even know there exists a thing called VPS. And even if they know they think it is easy to deal with a reseller hosting package rather than a VPS.

I agree with you. Most of new starters prefer reseller hosting or now they called it master reseller. If you go to DP, there are a lot of reseller hosting company offering their services. So, reseller hosting is not dying.

IMO no its not dieing. Many people still use reseller hosting. You cant Over sell ON a VPS and the prices for resellr hosting is cheaper than a VPS and less work for the reseller as the main server owner will need to do things like restoring backups ETC.

Maybe reseller accounts become less popular as used to be. But the idea of the reselling will never die I assume

At HostCadet we see vps and reseller signups. Most new resellers like the easy to use reseller account with free billing and domain reseller account features. As they get used to running everything we do see them transfer to vps.
