Just to add to this don't expect 00ber ROI even when you're dealing with a seemingly competent and legitimate host; paying more does not always equate to more value either.

The best thing you can do is dedicate some time to sniffing around, then quantifying hosts, then narrowing the list down and finally shopping between the finalists.

Don't be afraid to log a support ticket with each hosting company you're interested in either as their response can usually give you a good indication of how helpful and how timely their response system is.

Lastly, put all your needs into whatever ticket you submit as that will put everyone on the same page. I once had a host that was so poor at service they had the audacity to blame me for their lack of service.

Common sense dictates that resellers who are too cheap are not very good. This depends on your definition of cheap, but there are many good affordable resellers out there so don't hesitate to look around.

In terms of the cost to your website you are right. If your site is down a lot or even loads poorly then yes cheap is expensive. It costs you in more ways then the upfront money to host your web site. Anyone who has a good idea of where they want to go with their web site or online business realizes that cheap is not always a good solution and that being successful comes with a price beyond just the dollar amount you pay for hosting.

The best reseller plans are the plans you purchase from a provider. Purchasing a Reseller plan from a person that is a Master Reseller plan is a bit over board, thats why I dont really liked that Master Reseller / Alpha Reseller software. It completely defeat the purpose of purchasing a dedicated server / VPS.

The thing is the correct choise to make. The price should not be too low, or too high - it has to be reasonable for the offered amout of used resources.
