Cpanel problem with addon domain

Hi there,

I have now registered my reseller account from wich I will sell hosting to the sites I design myself. It's not the idea to be a big commercial webhost. But it is nice to have complete control over the accounts.

I do have a problem though, I have an account wich has domain detoverlantaarn.be linked to it. But they wanted to register another domain and add it to their account. So I registered oliverdemusical.be about 3 days ago, but when I try to add it to the account through cPanel it says: "Cannot determine nameserver ip for oliverdemusical.be. Please make sure that it is registered with a valid domain name register."

How can I make it override as I have checked the configuration of the domain and everything should be working in order.

Matt.

you checked to make sure the new domain is using your nameservers? that should be the only reason it would say that.

I thought the add domain feature in cpanel was only for sub domains. I dont think you can add new domains like that but I could be wrong.

There is a over ride for this in the master WHM panel under tweak settings, ask your host to enable it for you.

An addon domain allows you to reach a subdomain when entering the name of the addon domain into a browser.

For example, if yourdomain.com is parked on anotherdomain.com, going to http://www.yourdomain.com in a browser will bring up anotherdomain.com

The whm tweak settings will only prevent:
- Allow Creation of Parked/Addon Domains that are not registered
- Allow Creation of Parked/Addon Domains that resolve to other servers (ie domain transfers)
- Allow users to Park/Addon Domains on top of domains owned by other users
- Prevent users from parking/adding on common internet domains. (ie hotmail.com, aol.com)

Just make sure your dns as resolved proprely, since this must be the problem.

My reply is for rhytha although perhaps a mod would prefer to move his/her post to its own thread.

If I understand you right:
  • You are trying to register a new domain rather than add it to cPanel.
  • You are trying to register your new domain via your hosting company rather than directly with a registrar like enom, godaddy or namecheap.
  • You have been unable to register your domain name through your host's package.
If I have understood what you have said, then I think you need to contact your host and tell them you're unable to register a domain using their package and ask them to fix it. If they can't/won't fix it, then register the domain with someone like godaddy.
