I think they have been in business longer than 4 years (but off hand I am not sure). I have been with then 3-4 years. I use IP based FTP with them. So far so good. I think their best feature is price. You should give em try if you get a chance, pretty good support as well.
Cheers.

That sound like a definate possibility. If expert said my site XXX.com has been with XXX since XXX and we could check out the whois info I might have believed him.

As I mentioned before, I don't have a domain name! I only use their hosting service to upload backup data for my graduate research via a FTP account. So far I have had no problems with 247-host service.

JohnScott - The Great
Well, well, well! We have a guy here pretending to know everything.
I'm not yet a client of 247-host.com but I planning to become one.
In fairness to this company having a whoisguard is not a sufficient evidence that they cannot provide a good service.
The smart thing to do is you monitor them. If they can really give the service or not.
I already contacted their phone no. and yes their people working. Their support response via e-mail is really great. I tried e-mailing them in random time, like morning, dawn, afternoon and I'm really amaza that even sales questions can answered immediately the longest reply I experience is 1hr and this is a sales concern.
I have three monitoring company that I'm using for my hosting company.
-www.hyperspin.com (paid subscription)
-www.siteuptime.com (paid subscription)
-www.host-tracker.com (free)
And I'm monitoring 247-host.com for 5-months now. I only experience two downtimes. The longest is 15-minutes but of course I'm not sure if this is really a scheduled downtime.
Mr. JohnScott is really not capable of reviewing a hosting company. So, what if whois.sc catch the bandwidth problem.
Mr. JohnScott for your information that whois.sc is somehow related to Alexa.com.
I have traffic monitoring with alexa, i update the info.txt in my root directory and ask alexa to fetch this. two days after my old screenshot with whois.sc is different already and i have my new screenshot. try it for yourself buddy.
you are so typical american who always pretend to be the best.
you are great "L".

Hiya DA,
Most intelligent folks do not want to host at a host who gets their websites shut off for bandwidth overage. It's one of theose pesky facts of life that people who pay to have their websites oneline prefer them to be online.
If you don't understand that, then you might want to get out of the hosting business.

Also just did a search for feedback on several other web hosting forums and it looks like they are major clowns.

I disagree. Even after reviewing the other forums, So far 247-Host has been quite good and I would highly recommend them. Mr. John Scott, I would not jump to conclusions unless you tested the service for yourself. So far 247-host has been great to me.

Expert, I understand that you like 247-host. But you must understand that in the eyes of most people, any host that allows itself to get shut off for bandwidth overage will be viewed with suspicion.
You also must understand that many people will view you with suspicion for claiming to be a customer of 247-host.com for a year longer they have had a domain. It raises questions like, if they didn't have the domain, how did you find them?
And that type of thing. And, you profess to not owning a domain and just using them your 247-host.com account for ftp purposes - to most readers that raises red flags as well. Many many webhosts go out into forums and talk up their own services claiming to be a customer, but when asked to provide a domain to verify, they cannot.
I am happy that you are happy with your host, but I cannot recommend people use a host which gets shut off for b/w overage. Just my

I have been with 247-Host for 3 years a bit. They were under a different name at the time they started - but the name was changed to 247-Host (not sure what domain name thay had before). The bandwidth issue is a very minor point in my opinion. The whois now shows correctly no bandwidth issues and as a matter of fact after coming to thir forum, I notified them of this issue. I do appreciate John for pointing that out - so that the issue can be put to rest! They were extremely happy to have it resolved asap. If you get a chance I would recommend you give em try in the future. So far 247-Host had demonstarted the best value for my dollar!

So far I been monitoring their server, it has only be down 2 times, and it was 15 minutes each.
So far it seems good, but we will see in a few months.

sounds to me that they have a cheap plan as resellers and are offering hosting. 90% of the companies on this market are like that and you have to watch out.

An honest review of 247-host:
We decided to sign up with 247-host a couple of months back. The price was right for their reseller accounts, and despite having read some shakey reviews, and some sort of connection to a previously shakey company/domain name, we figured we'd give them a try.
Uptime: Excellent ... and very poor. We had a server monitor doing daily statistics on both 247-host as well as another hosting reseller we are dealing with. 247-host was actually marginally better on uptime than our other hosting reseller, which I'm sure is a much bigger company. That's the good. The bad is that last week, as of about 11pm on Wednesday night, the PHP service failed, and all of our customer's sites went down. HTML was still working, and cpanel access was still working, but no PHP. We logged numerous tickets starting at about 11pm and didn't get an initial response until about 11am the following (Thursday) morning. The response was something along the lines of "They upgraded cpanel and it broke the server(s), your sites will be back in 2-3 hours". Who the "they" are is unknown. If he's renting servers in a datacenter, I'm sure he's made aware of any upcoming changes, and should have been onhand to verify that any changes didn't break anything. In total, we were down for about 15 hours, 11 of which we were in complete darkness. Our customers were emailing us hourly and getting very upset and we came off as complete amateurs by not being able to give them any information. We lost our two best paying customers as a result of this, and have had to move the rest of our customers to our other reseller to ensure we don't have a problem like this again. We asked 247-host to work with us to compensate our customers due to the extended outtage, but they told me that the outtage wasn't their fault.
Responsiveness to problems: We had a couple of issues with things not configured correctly that dragged on longer than they should have, and the problem above was very slow in response. You certainly wouldn't want to be on the line with your customer while having to rely on 247-host to solve your problems. Sometimes someone would answer the live chat pager on their site, more often than not though, there would be no answer.
Service: While sometimes slower than we would have liked, the service was generally polite.
Overall impression: Not knowing any better, I would say that this is probably a one or two man operation, renting a server or three in a data center, and easily overwhelmed by complicated or compiling problems. I'm sure it's not easy to maintain servers 24 hours a day, but a larger support infrastructure is probably needed to keep you, the customer, in a comfortable position. If you're hosting small mom and pop websites 247-host may be a good choice do to the price point, but if you have any need at all for uptime and round the clock support, you're likely going to be disappointed with them.
Other options: We've consolodated all of our accounts with www.hostdime.com - who have just come out with an updated price list for resellers. Previously this was hostdime's weak point, but the packages they've come out with are very reasonable, and they are staffed around the clock. We've logged tickets in the middle of the night and had answers back with 20 minutes.
This was our experience with them, hopefully you can make an informed decision about whether or not you want to use them in the future.
