I hear they have good uptime, and bad support.
Never used HostGator myself.

I see, I wanted to know if its worth the extra money to go with them. I'm having a little too much down time with my host. Its pretty much few times per-month, anywhere from 30 minute to 3 hours downtime. I don't know if this is normal or not.

I have downtime once a month that I actually notice.
Their online support is great. Everytime I have a problem I go straight to chat and they fix it right away... however... if you get into some big hairy problem, they require email only support tickets.
If you call them, they tell you to send an email to get a ticket.
(I have a reseller account with them.)

I have switched from WebFusion to hostgator and I reccomend them.
I have experienced 1 little glitch that was sorted within minutes.
Granted, I haven't been with them for very long though but I did a lot of research befor moving over and so far I'm happy

I don't know I don't have anything special running to alert me. Actually once a month is a bit much... it's not that often... I went a year with no site on my domain, had 6-8 accounts for clients that were hosted and no one ever complained once that there was any down time.
Now a days I'm online and I see my site many times a day... if I notice it's down, they have it back up in 5 minutes or less. The most I ever remember it being down was an hour... and that was a year or so back.
I've hosted with many companies before and I find this to be more solid uptime then I can to expect with others... the price is cheap, if my old clients paid me to stay up I'd actually be making money each month. (my business closed and they are hanging around for the free ride because I never kicked them off my host plan)...
I really have no complaints.

They all have downtime dude.
If anyone claims to have 100% uptime, I would be dubious about joining.

It is yes but I'd say you pay for what you get though.

I think people say that the support is bad because the live chat people always tell you to email but through the email you do get a fast response.
Also if you are singin up to them i have some voucher codes that you mite like, i use to have a free month one but they took that offer off.
1.) Coupon Code - "iceishot" - $9.94 Off
2.) Coupon code "jury" - $9.94 Off
3.) Coupon code "hgc25" - $9.94 Off
4.) Coupon code "Hostcritique" - $9.94 Off
