If you can afford it, stick with the industry standard Adobe CS line. CS6 is out now so CS5 should be cheaper.

there are a few good tutorial sites online that can give you the basics to photoshop and illustrator. I find the best way to do some learning is to just mess around with each tool. Good luck!

I'd say InDesign and Illustrator and Photoshop. I've seen some print houses still using Corel but Adobe is an industry standard. Even Quark is starting to go away.

The logo is great but do you have to stick with it being all on white or can you do a wrap? I don't know about it there, sometimes it is cheaper to get a wrap done than a few vinyl letters and pics....
