I have seeing contents stolen many times, then the search engines will penalize you.

Google do not know for sure that the original is yours.

Your are mistaken about the subject, we are talking about traffic not conversions.

Now, if you want to talk about conversions I agree with you that not all first position convert into sales it depends of keywords or keyphrases.

Conversions into sales do not depends or your positions on search engines but only give you more chance to sell.

If you sell something people don't like or the products are not popular or not good, you can be number 1 everywhere, you will not sell.

Of course, but the thing is how you will convert it to sales? If you have good content to your site, traffic may help you and by that there is a chance to convert the visits to sales.
