Yahoo Directory - is it worth paying for?
I have a relatively new site - it's only six months old, and it could really do with some high PR backlinks. I was just wondering whether the $300 fee that Yahoo charge for entrance to it's directory is actually worth it. Will it make a HUGE difference to my PR and how should I expect to see it compliment my growing list of other back links from PR 1-5 sites?

I was very optimistic for a while with yahoo directory, but not anymore.
They will list your site for a few months at the first page of the category choosen, then trash your site at the end of the category below link farms and registrar link or dead links.
No it is not worth it after all, $300 bucks to be below spamming links, no way !

I have found it to be worth every penny.
Yahoo Dir listings help you get page rank AND google love in my experience.

i used to submit to yahoo in 1999 and 2000 when it was free. my links are still there. and yes, i believe those respective sites have the benefited of getting locked in among the top seeds for the keywords without much keyword optimization or external link building efforts. they might also benefit as "aged" links. this is for NOT for traffic but more for the link juice.
would i pay for it at $300, that's debatable. i've never paid for a link and at this time i'm not about to start.

A link from Yahoo directory is just a regular link from authority site. They are plenty authority sites for less than $300 per year.
On Yahoo directory there is too much junk links anyway, they don't even review links after your first submission.
From my experience after more than 11 months listed on Yahoo, the traffic is poor from their directory, another hand if you are lucky enough to be in page one on the category choosen that will boost your serps in Yahoo.
Again, does it worth it when we all know that Google bring 10 times more traffic and more targeted than any other search engines?
If it is working for you that's fine, but remember for how long?

You are welcome.
That's just my experience with them, it is possible that will work better for someone else. I will advise everyone to give a try for one year.
For the site owners listed on Yahoo directory for more than one year, please share with us your experience, it is always interesting to hear about different experiences.

Thanks for the advice. Think I will submit to the directory once my site has been revamped.

$300? Doubtful. It will impact you more with Yahoo than anywhere else. I wouldn't buy it but that's just me.

Buying link for money, not a good idea and when it comes to pay $300 -- I would not suggest!!

I can't tell if it's really worth it. I haven't purchased any links with Yahoo Directory yet. But buying links in an authority site, I guess I'd rather stay or buy a link with a related authority site.

Yahoo directory
I think you are worth paying for it for as long as you have achieve you purpose and goal. Because yahoo is a very popular site, i think you can benefit a lot on acquiring their services.

It all depends on your budget. If you've only got a few thousand dollars for all your directory, SEO, Marketing etc costs, then it's not worth it since it's rather expensive. But if you have tens of thousands for these things I consider it a necessity.
Take a look at your overall budget and see what % the cost of adding it to the directory ($299?) would be.

I just can't see what's so great about a list in the Yahoo directory that a few SEO articles won't get me for free. Not everyone knows how to properly do this though, but in my opinion it's not worth it.
I would just stick to forum posting/article writing/social bookmarking/blog commenting and such.
