Hi Guys,
I am learning SEO for last few months and seems like I know very less about SEO. So I would love if we can start a question thread about all SEO related questions.
My first question How Domain Age And Domain Itself Affect SEO Campaign & Online Success

When it comes to domain age, the older the better. Same goes with the website age. If you have a domain that has been sitting there for 10 years and no website content is ever built, then the website age can be a big factor. Bottom line - the longer search engines know about your domain and more importantly your site, the more likely you have better rankings.
Having said that, domain age and website age play only a minor role in term of rankings. There are other factors that are more important.

Even if a domain is new, it can rank well on SEs. Of course, domain age can help a lot. But it will depend mostly on how you make your link popular. Continuous link building plus a quality and updated content for about 3-4 months can certainly give you a good rankings on the big G, but it will still depend on how competitive your keyword is.

I agree. It's not hard to get on the top to promote a newly website if you are promoting it better. The higher quality, a better chance to rank up your site. Maybe domain age may have an advantage but it's better for a beginner to start on a fresh website to measure his/her perseverance and skills to promote a fresh site.

I don't know about Online Success cause its just too broad for me to understand exactly. For the SEO Campaign, the domain age really helps a lot especially on rankings, I don't know but from my understanding, domain age somehow considered by SEs as part of a quality website. The domain itself helps also for better rankings, for better searches, in general, for the better.

Not totally! You can still rank number 1 even though your domain is new.
Domain age just helps, but SEO is not only about it! Your ranking still depends on how you work in optimizing your site.

Take everything you think you know about SEO and throw it out the window.
Google and other search engines are going to "organic search"
Which more or less is: if your header says "lawn mowers" you need something in your post about lawn mowers.
The site that updates the most about "lawn mowers" gets the best ranking. Yes, age would take preference here because they would have the most post on this matter.
Read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_search
After reading this you'll understand why so many sites are crying "I lost my ranking" because they had no organic search for their "keyword" they were using.

Just update regularly and promote your site in every way you can....
Good things come to those who wait especially those who do something while waiting.... lol
