Best SEO tips to promote a new domain

Hello member:

I have one question about SEO and how to get indexed from my new domain. The content of the new domain has all from the old domain. I created a new content for the old domain.

I have one domain 1+ years old and get good indexed on some key terms. But the domain name is not very good so I bought a new domain name with good name. I like to promote this new domain. This is what I did but not sure if it is a right way or not.

New domain has these links:
newdomain.com/index.html,
newdomain.com/register.html,
newdomain.com/faq.html,
newdomain.com/members.html
newdomain.com/others.html

I placed all links from new domain on the old domain so that when users click on any of the link, it points to the new domain.

Is this a right way to promote my new site?

Thanks for reading.

Jenny.

Tips of SEO

The right knowledge most SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and promotional tasks can be accomplished by the web site owner, at little or no cost. Even if you do not plan to do all the work yourself its worthwhile to understand what you are paying for when you hire a SEO company.

If I want to create a new site and put all content from the old site to the new site, then get rid off the old site in a short time.

What is the best method?

Thanks.

It seems you are on the right path as far as not losing the traffic that you have spent a year gathering. But remember one of the most important things is keep the links relevant from page to page.

This may mean you need to double your content (an article or post from the old site to relevant but different content on the new) be sure not to duplicate it word for word and it should help.

What I mean is make sure that your links from the old page go to relevant new pages don't link just for the sake of linking to the new site. Google may view this as a bad thing.

You will also still need to begin a fresh SEO campaign for your new site. One that will establish it's on credibility and PR. I am sure you know the value of linking and establishing quality links can boost you PR quickly. As far as transferring the established PR to a new domain I don't know of anyway that this can be done for a fact. There are many theories on that topic, but to be safe begin an aggressive SEO-SEM plan with the focus of creating independent PR.

Before you get to far begin keeping track of SEO activity, it will help you in the long run be able to understand what is happening with rankings, what works, and what doesn't. This way the next time you build a website you have a general blueprint of where to get started. There have been great posts thus far but I thought I'd share this one tip.
