How can I find out who is linking to my site?

What is the best way to find out who is linking to my site? And is there a way to find out when a site's link is going to appear as paid to google. For example i have found that many sites have a recip link form for viewers to fill out. How can i find out if those are going to be worth anything to google.

The most comprehensive tool you can use is Google Webmaster Tools, but if you want to get a rough idea use http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/.

Google finds paid links by observing the massive behaviour of adding links to a particular site in a short period. If you are linking to a site which has good page rank and authoritative then that is a valued link to your site. Google will worth it.

- google webmaster tools
- backlinkwatch.com
- Use Awstats from your cpanel if you have your own hosting , click refering sites menu in left bottom of Awstats. and you will see true sites that link to yours. I always use awstats, its better than google webmaster tools or backlinkwatch if your purpose is to know, which sites linking to yours.

Backlinkwatch or Yahoo is the best in my opinion, Google alerts don't give you EVERY link that is indexed and Webmaster Tools isn't really up to par in my opinion. Stick with those two and you can see ALL links coming in, NF or DF.
