Google Unique Visitors

So, I was wondering, how much traffic do some of the top sites get? Like Yahoo, MSN and Google.

January 2004, Google.com got 59,327,000 unique visitors.

59 million. Wow.

Ask.com got 12,792,000 unique visitors.

These are not search stats. Google powers a lot of search sites not included in here. This is just traffic. Raw traffic to those domains.

Now, remember, Google is not the top trafficked site on the Internet. Yahoo is.

111 million unique visitors to Yahoo in December 2003.

As these things go, stats differ depending on the source. According to comScore Media Metrix:

Yahoo! Sites 113,190,000
Time Warner Network 111,750,000
MSN-Microsoft sites 110,121,000
Google Sites 65,996,000

Some big figures there John!

Even though Ask's figures seem big, I am sure people spend more time (and therefore do more searches) on Google.

Also, Yahoo is not only about search. There is mail, games, etc.

The thing that surprises me is, I expected Google to have more traffic. I would have guessed in the hundreds of millions...

The big point, though, is that Google is pretty much a single service. So you know 60 million people visited Google - just to search.

Got a Hotmail account I use regularly, but I almost never use MSN search.

Those Alexa rankings seem to be pretty accurate if you compare Alexa to actual traffic.

Point simply being that Google's traffic is pretty much single purpose - to search - whereas the others offer a multitude of services, and that's what their figures demonstrate.
