According to the post, you can calculate the check sum of a web page and use it to do something, e.g. get PR. It should be useful if you are developping a web service or software. We know that it was difficult to know the PR on non-Windows system since no Google toolbar, with this script, it's easy to get the information.

PR is useful to some extent, yes. it basically lets you know, at a glance, how important google thinks a particular page is.

PR is not such a big factor as it used to be. It basically ranks your site's popularity which you can compare with other sites. This number is based on a scale of 0-10.

Actually I think this would be very useful because in order to check the PR of a page with Google toolbar you have to visit the page and its very painful if a web site has a lot of pages.

Visiting all these pages also messes up your stats, can be very annoying.

Also, it is useful to keep track of web pages linked to your site, link exchange partners are not always reliable.
