the thing about alot of the case studies is that they aim to manipulate the viewer.
1000% fold increase in traffic means nothing if you were getting 3 visitors a day.
often times many of the corporate sites are not listing for terms that they should list for naturally because they are using site building techniques that are absolutely ignorant to seo.
today i had a large international organization contact me. (I am talking really really really really big).
I talked to them on the phone for about 10 minutes and gave them a few tips. there site will rank for their primary keywords within a month.
if i were a greedy seo firm I could have charged them thousands and made a case study out of it.
i usually associate "case study" with "overpriced"
i have had a large cross section of unhappy seo customers from many firms with case studies and white papers contact me.
perfect example here... I went to the coachella music festival this year. while listening to Kraftwerk at the end of the night I started talking to these crazy people that were obviously on drugs... turns out they were hiring an seo firm that was charging them $1,000 / month to do nothing because their server had issues that prevented them from working on the site.
now this $1,000 a month was laughable at best. they built a linking campaign of 4 links (checking google's backlinks) over 6 months. needless to say that customer is now a customer of mine.
in conclusion (my general opinion): case study = greedy &
LAZY = poor work quality at a high price aimed at large wasteful companies.
