SEO companies client lists/case studies

How many of them do you think are legit?

Do you think alot of SEO firms just use BS case studies and/or testimonials?

the thing about alot of the case studies is that they aim to manipulate the viewer.

1000% fold increase in traffic means nothing if you were getting 3 visitors a day.

often times many of the corporate sites are not listing for terms that they should list for naturally because they are using site building techniques that are absolutely ignorant to seo.

today i had a large international organization contact me. (I am talking really really really really big).

I talked to them on the phone for about 10 minutes and gave them a few tips. there site will rank for their primary keywords within a month.

if i were a greedy seo firm I could have charged them thousands and made a case study out of it.

i usually associate "case study" with "overpriced"

i have had a large cross section of unhappy seo customers from many firms with case studies and white papers contact me.

perfect example here... I went to the coachella music festival this year. while listening to Kraftwerk at the end of the night I started talking to these crazy people that were obviously on drugs... turns out they were hiring an seo firm that was charging them $1,000 / month to do nothing because their server had issues that prevented them from working on the site.

now this $1,000 a month was laughable at best. they built a linking campaign of 4 links (checking google's backlinks) over 6 months. needless to say that customer is now a customer of mine.

in conclusion (my general opinion): case study = greedy & LAZY = poor work quality at a high price aimed at large wasteful companies.

I shouldn't imagine that many SEO companies can actually list their SEO clients, namely because it exposes them to malicious reporting by rival firms.

Unless, of course, all the company has done is change on-page elements.

most SEO firms are lazy and thus do not perform any of the aggressive type techniques you may chose to employ for some of your clients.

like I said, 4 links in 6 months...and this is a really big firm and I am talking about a hyper competitive product inside the consumer electronics industry

Many SEO firms don't seem to provide any link-building at all - per your example.

I list clients

I don't do anything that can be reported really

It has worked for me for small clients who are like

"holy cow look that those rankings"

and against me when big prospects have contacted me they are like

"the only thing you have done really competitive is your own site"

awall

"I talked to them on the phone for about 10 minutes and gave them a few tips. there site will rank for their primary keywords within a month."

why, the most likely wouldn't piss on you if you where on fire, if you didn't have something for them

About a year or so ago I had this interview with this web development firm

They where all excited about my skills , primarily seo

We talked for hours and you know I didn't get that job but a few months later that firms website was sure ranking a lot better

Every since then , when someone wants free seo lessons shaped in the form of a possible work inquiry

I tell them to go learn online just like I did

Let them take the time to sort thru all the propaganda out there

well they were a large international non profit organization.

the people who I think suck are financial advisors. i think they are often the greediest people in the world.

i love breaking concepts down to a 2nd grade level and explaining basic economics to financial advisors.

just pictured some marketing weasel or pasty IT slob juicing you for info

most big companies have IT staff , so If you tell them how to do it

they will just have joe staff programmer do your job

which he most likely failed at already, otherwise they wouldn't be calling around

Testimonials have been pretty standard in the webhosting industry, and they are almost never worth taking note of, either.
