With G's usual penchant for keeping things vague, I would just be wary of relying on differing C class IPs as a means of masking "dangerous liasons".

I do not recommend doing anything "dangerous" either.

when I build sites I make sure I get links from dozens of different sites pointing at my site. the concept is to thread your site into the faberic of the web.

if you make your own little network and do not get any links into it then you are not threading your site into the faberic of the web.

Read too many posts from people wanting to cross-link "safely" being recommended this course of action to put much faith in it.

I've a hunch G has greatly improved their link mapping capabilities, and few cross-linking schemes will be safe from being pinged either as a "links scheme designed...." or as "affiliated".

Yeah i do agree with awall, for a new site you have to earn some bucks...
But you have to plan very carefully.. About the page you are buying link from.. location of you link.. # of links on that page, theme of the page and site..
One very safe bet is buy some links from web directories.. I mean submit to paid directories...
I have list of some very good directories of PR8 and above, but i fear I am not violating any TOS, since v7n also hosts bluefind.com...

Again bluefind.com is a very good place to start. For a Pr of 5-6, I keep a budget of $150-250.
