Question for seo

I'm trying to understand PR fact. Last update my home page pr went from pr-3 to pr-4 and most of internal pages gain pr. <countries> The fact is i lost major traffice to my site. If i read this right when you gain pr means your page shows better. Or maybe i dont undestand pr thing. can you please help me to undestand this. Or maybe i did some thing wrong.

Sorry I also forgot to say this last update for pr was couple weeks ago. but i got some pr changes 3 days ago again. like my blog went from pr0 to pr2 and some countries gain pr2 in last three days. did we get another update 3 days ago.

Pr and traffic are not directly related, especially if your PR increased.

No. PR can help your rankings but it is a consequence, not a cause.
You gain PR by increasing the number of links pointing to your site or increasing the quality of the links already pointing to it.

Just so you know, the PR that you can see is not the "real" PR. If I were you, I would turn off that little green bar and think about ways to gain traffic.

Link building with PR in mind is a waste of time. Think about the USERS.

Don't get too mixed up with PR focus more on quality links from old sites. Stay away from spam sites..

Fiirst i want thank you for responds-------But
1- this is for first guy -I dont undestand what you mean by saying this is not real PR, I
know this is not a fake pr.
2- some say get link from old site or get quality link , if page does not have PR then i
hear its not quality site.
Still my question is how come when my pr went from 3 to 4 i lost my traffic, because when i was 3 i was getting good traffic and i havent changed any thing.

The popular consensus is that what Google shows on the little green bar is an estimation. Your page might have been an actual 3.97 (showing a 3) and you got credit for a few more links becoming a 4.03 and started showing a PR4.

Not true. First of all the term "PRx site" is a little misleading. PR is figured on a page by page basis. A page with no PR just means that it has few to no other pages linking to it. Doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the site/page.

PR is not necessarily related to how well you rank for a particular keyword phrase. If I had a consistent drop in traffic I would first look and see if my rankings had changed for the worse. Remember that your competitors aren't going to stop working to get higher rankings.

in this case you got, focus more on promoting more your website. target your traffic well. do this without worrying much on gaining PR or anything about PR so you could've done well. to be honest, its very much worth it to pursue more on gaining traffic than on PR.

PR and Traffic is two different things. If the PR of your site increases, it doesn't mean that its traffic also increases and vice versa.

Google uses this what we called 'PageRank' to determine the over all importance of a web page. It analyzed the number of links and the quality of the referring web page(s).
Relative measurements:
Low-relevance - 0
High relevance - 10

The PR and Traffic does not relate with each other.

Check your competitors strategy, May be they are using any special thing those divert your traffic.

dont focus so much in you PR instead fosus more on how you will promote your site well so that your site will gain its traffic again

Ahh. That little green bar really confuses a lot of people.

The best thing to do here is to ignore that green bar thing. Do your thing. Try out ways to get good rankings on SEs. Traffic is far different from that PR thing. Alright?

There are lots of ways out there that can help you gain good amount of traffic. And it's definitely not PR. Just make sure you don't spam or do black hat techniques or else, your site might suffer the consequences.

First of all thanks for all your replies. Question.
First of all i dont care about green bar <page rank> but why yesterday 1/18/2009 my pr changed again , i lost all my internal pr, I know we didnt get any pr update, why i'm the only one pr keep changing on my site. Is it because i got penalized or-----
1- pr for internal page is gone
2- when you types site:www.mydomain.com i get repeat search with the omitted result its doesnt show all ,unless if i hit repeat omitted this is new from yesterday.
3-please type www.mydoamin.com in google i have now
www.mysite.com
description
blog
bangladesh---------------this changed yesterday use to be calif.
pets--------- click shows pr-2 try to go to homepage click on pets shows pr-0
Please can someone give me some answer im willing to pay to understand this. Please once again i dont care about green bar, but why keep changing.

because that's the way it is. Pr is useless. It is determined by incoming links.
Reasons why you would lose PR:
* the links pointing to your site have been removed
* the website with links pointing to yours lost their Pr, which means they don';t have much juice to pass on.

Let me ask you a question: How do you check your PR?

I check pr with google pr tool. I see what you saying some pages that im linked to they lost pr. but why this happen yesterday again, we did not get pr update yesteray. since last update this is second time is happing to my site. not that i care about green bar, but why my site

PR is updated continually - It is not only your site but all the sites in Google index that are updated.

When people talk about PR update, they talk about the Google PR toolbar.
"Real" Pr is updated continually.
