Possible to promote your website without a search engine?
Hi


Wondering if it would be possible to promote your site without search engines and get as much traffic if you would use a search engine.

I could for example , write articles and publishing them with your signature, post on newsgroups, use blogs, news [press releases, viral marketing(email to a friend etc.), swap links or banners, non online ideas suchs a give aways ... any one any more comments ..?

Yep Blog as you mentioned ..if you can keep the blog well maintained then the rewards can be good.

Television is a great way. if you cant get your site mentioned during primetime tv, get it on the Text pages of a popular channel! I had my game site on the letters page of Teletext, and got loads of hits

I promote my e/n blog type site purely by word of mouth. I don't get many hits, but its been steadily growing since I started it. I have a bad habit of banning a lot of people as well. No use putting up with stupidity on my site.

i agree...hit up the big 3 if you want some real traffic but don't mind spending some dough....newspaper, tv & radio

there are definitely other ways to generate traffic.

search engine optimization is NOT always going to be the perfect solution to every advertising campaign, although it almost never hurts as something to compliment it.
