ferret77 its down to link structure and I too can give more examples from my own work. All my dynamic sites have good PR. Also your correct that the Query String is everything after the ? that’s what the topic is about so how am I wrong? (You also miss quoted me and left out the Query String)

Google guessed the Page Rank and there is nothing wrong with that cos that’s a good thing. It will give a true page rank value on the next PR update depending on link structure.

I am not an idiot (at least on this topic) and I am aware of the concept of phantom pagerank. look and see that my pages are indexed. those are all PR5 pages.

I said that in response to the guy who said having a query string on the end of url does nothing to page rank, it does , if the page only exists withthe query string attached to it , it will take a lot of pr before it shows up on it

you can't say phantom page rank is the same as real pr being passed to those pages

if you attached a link from your page that was newpage.php?id=testpage

and didn't have any links pointed at newpage.php

it most lilkly would never show its real pr

but if you added a page newpage.php and linked to newpage.php it would moslty be pr4 next update

and i didn't every say it would be spidered in , a shopping cart site i work on has thousands of page in the index and rankings , they all have a querystring attached

most show no pr

On pagerank, remember that google toolbar pagerank is not the same pagerank as that used to rank your pages internally by google. The toolbar shows the same PR for a given url regardless of the query string.

I have seen many examples where it is clear a more realistic ranking is applied (eg pages with some query strings rank higher than others in a way that makes sense).

I can also vouch that google does index and rank pages which are only accessible through urls with querystrings. If the string is complex then the pages may not be indexed. With simple querystrings (eg 1 or 2 short parameters) it may be less likely to get indexed but its close enough that its hard to tell.

I have a site with a mixture of "flat" .htm urls and urls with querystrings. For some search terms the querystrings rank higher so if there is a bias against them it is not huge.

If your pages aren't being indexed my suggestion would be to look at the linking scheme - many dynamic pages get their navigation links from complex javascript that google may not be able to follow.
