How emails are effective in online marketing? How can we promote our products in emails?

You can buy email lists from certain places or ask for prices from newspaper groups, etc. You'd need to be specific about the demographics for example (you could use google trends to get ideas there). Don't spam, and I would also advise you to have a very clear opt-out message and privacy message in the email if you do decide to go for it.

Most Email Marketing looks like a spam. But Solicited email is an acceptable and proven marketing practice. Solicited email involves sending email to customers who have signed up to receive email from your website.

I agree on this one, I also received lots of emails that says I won a large amount of money and they need some bank account or something, then you have to pay some $500-$1000 in order to get thousands and even millions of dollars. summing up all the emails like this that i have received, I'd be a billionaire but hey its only a scam.

I wouldn't buy an email list. The best thing to do is to get people to subscribe through your blog. Email marketing is really good for selling affiliate products.

As with most, if not all marketing, know your intended audience(s).
Be aware and sensitive to how the recipients will be viewing your e-mails. By this i mean, if your audience is mostly on-the-go Blackberry types, then keep the messages as plain-text and to the point. If they are heavy HTML e-mail client users, well, take advantage of that!
Include information that is useful to them, and which makes them feel like they are truly benefiting by letting your e-mails into their inbox. Don't waste their time.

It's the reason why I registered for another email account, all I can see in email marketing is "spam". Loads and loads of newsletters, product offers, service, including an annoying "free daily horoscope". I don't even recall registering to an astrology/psychic website.

I suggest you only do that to your customers and/or people who subscribe willingly to your newsletters.

I don't think email marketing is effective as of today. Most of them are considered as spam! I don't even think it's worth to do it.

Email marketing can do wonders if its done in the correct way.(not SPAM). The content should contain some useful info. Email marketing will help in acquiring new customers. I'd prefer building own list. The best way is to build list is subscription in your blog for the readers and you can also use any free online business directory to build list, which gives you accurate contact info.

The fact that there's so many email that you can receive from sites that you hardly even know, its hard to put into peoples mind this days that email marketing is not SPAM.
