Another often overlooked technique is local business listings. If your site/company has a physical address then you can claim your free google local business listing and yahoo in the states. This can very often get you on page 1 of a vertical SERP (ok, amybe alongside another 10 or 11) but can often bring traffic.

Be sure you have a unique, keyword focused Title tag on every page of your site. And, if you MUST have the name of your company in it, put it at the end. Unless you are a major brand name that is a household name, your business name will probably get few searches.
Links from .edu domains are given nice weight by the search engines. Run a search for possible non-profit .edu sites that are looking for sponsors.
SEO is not a one-shot process. The search landscape changes daily, so expect to work on your optimization daily.

More on-page techniques include getting Analytic code and putting it on site pages to track the traffic of the site.

Generating xml as well as html sitemap.

Verifying webmaster code.

Adding titles to the link which will be shown when we bring cursor to the link.

Off page technique social networking is very beneficial to get traffic on your site.

I read from a books about Google, A search engine that feared by giant Microsoft, and it said Google have about 200 parameters to rank a webpages
