I know this is simple stuff but its always worth a little reminder.

1: Register your domain name (URL) in GoogleWebCreationUK perform this with every website designed and built by us!!!

3: Ensure that new content is placed on your website (no copying other websites as Google will recognize this and penalize you for it).You know your own business better than anyone so get typing.

5: Get other, relevant websites to link to your website.This is critical to any search engine success and is worth spending at least 30 minutes per fortnight searching the Internet to find any potential candidates.

6: Sign up to relevant forums and get your website known about.This is an excellent way of getting website / business known about for free, go on get posting!!!

7: Keep your website content updated on a monthly basis. Google just loves to see new, original content placed on your website, so place a new bit of news on the website, perhaps the odd testimonial or new service that you offer, or special promotion that you would like to announce.

8: Do not SPAM your website across the web or you may get banned from GooglePlease do not sign up to any Search Engine Optimization company offering hundreds of links for some low monthly, yearly or even one off fee you might just get banned from the search engines.

9: Make sure all your links are working, broken links can upset Google and make sure website less noteworthy.

10. Make sure that a Site Map has been added to your website (Google loves these).

One last tip, we have seen websites get banned by companies simply being too determined in their actions to beat the competition, by introducing huge unorthodox / illogical changes to their website. Just remember to keep to the above 10 tips and overtime you will see your website increase in stature and rank in the search engines.

Register a domain name. I suppose that's an important first step

Aim for content that seems natural. Keyword density does not seem to be so valid any longer. LSI is the buzz word now. Has been for at least a year. It's not just about the keywords, it's about related words in your content as well
