How i can use Keywords properly to achieve top ranking ?

Hi friends,

This is my first post in this forum. I have a unique problem and want your suggestion to minimize it.

I have been optimizing a travel web site travii and i want travii to appear in top ten results on google. Please suggest me how I can achieve top ranking in Google.

To get good ranking in SERPs, you need to add lot of useful and fresh content about the Niche in your site.

Plus, you need to get some relevant backlinks from high quality pages.

Doing these two things will help you get high place in SERPs.

You need to first identify the keywords you want your site to rank for. Preferably keywords related to your niche but which are not too competitive

Then incorporate these words to the content of your site using some on page search engine optimization principles

Next step is to generate a ton of backlinks especially do follow backlinks to your site. Mix it up a little i.e some URL links, some anchor text links varying the words you use as your anchor

I'm confused. You say you have been optimizing the site already. Are you optimizing it for search engines? If so, yes you should identify your keywords, use them in the context of your site and build your links. You have a host of resources and everyone here is helpful (well most of us lol). Start reading some older articles written here with people with the same issues as you and you can get a lot farther, much faster than waiting around for responses.

So you should already have your set of keywords by now? Since you said that you've been optimizing Travii.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, you currently have 27 keywords and most of them are long-tail keywords. Long tails are easier to rank, that's good, however, many long tails doesn't have much search results so check your set of keywords again. Use https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Just keep reading SEO articles and read through forums, you'll learn a lot. Btw, I tested your 404 page. The page appeared, but only for a second, then goes to the Google error page.

Well, that's going to be tough since the competition in your niche (travel) is high. There are different ways on how to handle that kind of situation. You can properly target those long-tail keywords since they are not that competitive compare to broader ones or you can target specific location(s) where you want to gain high rankings for your targeted keywords. There are a lot of possible reasons why you're not getting the positions that you want. You can consider checking your site's URL structure, your keyword placement (if the proper keywords is placed in the most proper web page of your site), the competitiveness of your keywords, your backlinks and a whole lot more.

Use your targeted keyword in title, description, keywords and anchor text of back links. Also use it in body text with proper keyword density. Use header tag and bold formatting in body text.

i think using keywords as your anchor text in your post and in your forum signatures will be a good way to rank your keywords

Use keywords properly in title tag and content of the site.
Keyword density in content should be appropriate.

I completely agree with P.O.S. and micoblanco, all the tips they have explained are absolutely right. I would like to add one more and that's internal linking. Internal linking helps to increase page views and encourage viewers to stick on your blog for longer by providing attractive links to content that may interest them. Also, it can help to improve the search engine rankings for your posts and pages as you want.

You can try http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal which is a free tool that displays the amount of searches and competition for specific keywords. It also allows you to find more specific keywords that can better describe your site.
Add your choose keywords to the title tag.
You should always remove prepositions such as “and” as this will only hurt your search engine optimization. The fewer, more relevant the words, the higher your search engine ranking will be.

For what evr keywords you would like to be at the top of google for you will need to check out the top ten and see what the keyword density is on their sites. For your website place the keywords in the headings throughout your page and place the keywords in the text between anchor tags. Replace home with the title of your page it is also good to place a link at the bottom of all your pages leading back to your index with keywords in the text.

Start from finding blogs related to subject and posting comments with the related keywords and url, joining the forums related to subject may help you but the problem that you will face is, you will not be able to answer much posts so this may become a little bit hard task to do. directory submission can help you well in this condition.

That's a very effective method of getting traffic to your online store. You build a blog and make sure you optimize posts for keywords relevant to your online store. Then you add a link in your blog to the relevant page in your store. it is reasonably straight forward to get a blog to rank weel in the search engines. SO search engine users who find your blog can then follow the link to your online store if your blog posts are compelling enough
