One of the best things to do is optimize each page for a certain search term. Look up the term using https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal to see how many searches are being done monthly for the term you want. Then search google for the term and reasearch your competitors checking their keyword density for the term and backlinks. Attempt to match/beat them for these two things and you will begin recieving google traffic. Of course this is easier said then done I checked google for electronic gadgets and the number 1 site had 125k backlinks to their main page and 5800 for the sub page coming up for electronic gadgets this should give you some idea of what kind of competition you will be dealing with.
