Smile A question about sitemap

As we know, sitemap have two kind ,xml and html.
Some people said the html format sitemap helpful for visitors, and the xml format helpful for spider, right?
And my question is which one we should add in our site, html or both?If only html format sitemap we add in site, how about xml?submit it in our google webmaster tools?
Thanks.

You can have both if you want

The xml sitemap is for search engines, we all know how that helps us.
The html sitemap, however, is more useful for sites with hundreds or thousands of pages. It helps visitors get to the page they want.

Classifieds sites use html sitemap so that their customers can quickly search for the products they want to buy, they can search through different brands and pick the right one they're going to purchase. Instead of clicking numerous inner links to get to the exact product they want.

But if your site has only, like 10-20 pages you can still use html sitemap. We also place our sitemap link to the footer of our index page for equal PR distribution.

Hi,
You can add both sitemaps. One will help user to search into urs website and another will help serp for indexing more and more pages to the google.

Use both as one is for spiders and the other is for visitors.

You only submit the .xml version in webmaster tools. You can also add the .xml to your robots.txt file by adding

Code:
Sitemap: http://www.your-domain.com/sitemap.xml
to the end of the robots.txt file. Just change your-domain.com to your domain name.

The HTML version isn't just for visitors - it's for search engines too. If your site doesn't have a lot of deep links (ie, a user would normally have to click on a few links before they get to your content page); an HTML sitemap can help spread some of your pagerank down from your front page to the individual content pages (which is where you want it).

True. I guess that even if you have the HTML version alone, it is fair enough even if you don't have the xml version. Your site will still be crawled even with just the HTML version.

I suggest that if you can make two of them up, then it's better to have them the same.

I tend to generate mine programatically in PHP, but this tool would seem to do what you need:
