How to exchange links to increase website traffic

I made a website for learning and earning purpose and submitted my website to google.com/addurl, but after 3 months my website is not indexed by google..
i asked the reasons here on SEO forum and seniors told me i should go for link exchange n backlinking ..
as a complete beginner i am unaware of these terms ..
plz guide me..

Reciprocal links are loosing its value day by day, it will be better if you can manage to get some one way text links.

Do you use Google Webmaster Tools?

If not, then you should use it.

Also, I will suggest to get one way backlinks instead of link exchanges.

If you write excellent content for your site then you can get links naturally.

Try to get some backlinks from pages that have high PR.

At some point, exchanging links with your competitors is not that bad, especially if your competitor ranks higher than you.

If you wanna trade links with them you can simply email their webmaster or contact other webmasters from this forum using http://www.v7n.com/forums/links/ -- Anyway, you should really be focusing more on getting one-way links, here's a couple of nice articles to read about link building:

Google will take a lot of time to indexed your website, as well as other directories, so be more patience.
It is hard to find some good website to exchange links, backlinks do well in search engine optimization for seo company, you should try your best to get more one way link rather than reciprocal links, since Google don't take much about it.

for me link exchange is no longer effective that's why most of the seo are preferred to do one way linking.

one way linking is really helpful. but in his case he should do link exchage first. thats my opinion

Forget reciprocal linking - and forget directory submissions, except for relevant sites who you might get clicks from and a few authority directories.

You need to build one way backlinks to your site. Simple as that. Each one is a vote in the eyes of Google and a path for their bots to follow.

This submitting to SE will not boost/include u in SERP .. Has to work properly in both on and off page optimization.. First check the on page optimization and after star off page.. Try to get some basic knowledge on it.. ALL THE BEST
