Good luck to you all on this. I think I will wait a year, or so, before considering it. While I can see some click value being involved, I'm not convinced any PR is being passed as the links change with each page load. For me, I would rather get links only from on-topic sites naturally for the long haul.

I am really happy with the program even though I am long and lanky and not as FAT as others using it. I am getting 10+ extra links a day. I know that isn't heaps but for my major keywords I am jumping daily arround 5 pages closer to position 1, out of no where. At this rate any day I will be number 1 for some of the keywords. *TOUCH WOOD*

You mean were not in Google's index and now (due to only to the promotions) you are? The statement 'as is' is very hollow.
Can you tell me the anchor text you used (if any) and the search term (you are targetting) along with the URL?

have you talked with the guy who set up that network? do you know that he got to the top dozen results for "eBay" using only that network?

perhaps your child was only wetting the bed when you laid next to him?

some people may not want to give specifics. not everything in the world needs to be proved...I know stuff I would not tell you, as I am sure others do too.

I'll give specifics... I'm targetting 4 terms right now. Before I started using the co-op network, I had maybe 2k backlinks with various anchor text, mostly coming from sig links. My rankings for the keywords were, at best, barely in the top 100. They sat like that for several months. I then joined the ad network, and the next update, my BL's more than doubled to over 5k, then the past backlink update, by BL's are over 11.4k (and that's just in Google... Yahoo and MSN are showing a LOT more). The keywords that I've been targetting are photography forum, photography forums, digital photography forum and digital photography forums, all of which I rank in the top 10 for right now, and slowly climbing. I fully believe in the co-op network. It's not obtrusive to any of my visitors, and it brings me traffic, as well as BL's which help in the serps.

No of course not but it does to me if I'm possibly betting my business on it.
Anyway, I did try to be polite while playing devils advocate (hence my best of luck statement) but I guess certain types have made up their minds and don't want any facts to muddy the waters.
I for one will not place my eggs in any basket that could contain holes and do more harm than good in the long run.

Your posts indicate this concept that your pool of knowledge is unflawed and that at first glance everyone else is typing bull****.
Businesses that do not take risks will eventually fail. Rememeber that some of us actually *do* seo for a living and may have access to a ton more info than you do. I have friends who actually crawl large portions of the web to do link analysis...when they tell me their research results I generally believe them to be at least somewhat accurate.
most people in seo do not talk in absolutes since stuff can and does change. most everything is somewhere in the middle...its not black and white.
currently the ad network is exceptionally powerful. you don't get to page 1 of google for ebay with on the page content. I am not saying that I do not think that Google will find a way to lessen the power of the ad network. they may but currently it is powerful.

I didn't have the exact stats in front of me at the time of posting so it was hollow. As awall said I would prefer not to go in to the specifics, but I can say it sure SEEMS to be that the co-op is doing something very positive.
Time will tell.

jazee
intially I had my doubts about ads showing up on the network
it seemed like some people ads showed up everytime but mine never did
so I wrote a script that ran the ads about 5000 times and printed the html then analized it
and my ads showed up a bunch of times then, although there are really heavy people who show up a lot , my ads with 12,000 weight showed up about 28 times .

um yeah
I had a site I added to it go up, but I also built thousands of other links for it
so its a combination of the 2 I think
but it did rise a bunch faster once added to coop network
or it least it seems that way
maybe its just coincidence

There is calculated risk and blind risk. I fear many, perhaps all, are of the latter.
After Florida many that engaged in blind risk paid the price and any gains ($$)were wiped out in a lot less time than they took to aquire them. The same thing happens daily on smaller scale.
If it's a good thing and it's not going to do more long term harm than good, it will still be there is 12-24 months. That's called calculated risk my friend
BTW, the businesses that are likey to fail are those that refuse to see a coin always has 2 sides and close their ears to all they do not want to hear.
