Strategy for ranking highly in Yahoo

What are you all doing to rank well in yahoo, which on page crieteria seem to be most important, my focus has been on google so long, I need a refresher. Anyone got an idea on how Yahoo! looks at header tags?

Thanks!

I've read that Yahoo likes a higher keyword density. I've never done well in Yahoo, so I can't speak to how true that is.

In my experience with them they put alot of weight on the title and desc tags. Also, like "theJack" said i beleive they do like a higher keyword density.

That being said, I think links come into play quite a bit as well... I just noticed I'm on the first page for both google and yahoo for photography forums (check Yahoo - and that only happened once I started getting more and more links... I don't change to much text on the homepage...

Post Yahoo case...

Yahoo strategy? check this out.

(www. icon . net.mx)

11 backlinks wich 6 of them are from Yahoo directory and it has PR of 5

If you have problems to succeding in Yahoo pay for your inclusion in the yahoo directory and that´s it.

I know the owner of the site and today I told him that all the backlinks of yahoo were leading to his site icon.net.mx and not to vortice.info site were they supposed to lead, he made the site vortice.info but he doesnt know a bit of SEO so he doesn´t know how those links get there (Yahoo directory) he says he never pay a dime to yahoo.

Anyway, the thing is, that if you have only one site to work with, pay the inclusion and work the SEO together so it can be indexed faster and higher.

In my experience we never pay for the inclusion and we have been following the John Scott SEO for dummies instructions step by step for months. He is my heroe actually he and this forum saved my a*ss for being fired XD

But let me tell you, titltes and content are very, very important in Yahoo, I think technically speaking the wise guys would say, it´s keyword density.

We are #3 in Yahoo with "beach destinations"
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=beach+destinations

And ´cause we are specialized in Mexico if you add the word Mexico.
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Mex...h+destinations

Our sites appear all over the first page, we have months in the first places, of course, thanks to all your advices.

"The practice made the master, not the robe..." (did I say that right in english?)

Agreed.

Depending on the competitive nature of the word you will get differnt answers. Some people can rank by jsut adding keywords to their title, decription, keywords, and h1. More difficult words appear to need keyword backlinks just like GG.

I think (Not 100% positive and would never say unless I was), Yahoo is paying more attention to titles, descriptions, h1, maybe h2, and body text than they used to. Including density.
