Yahoo and reciprical links

- Cloaking (showing crawlers deceptive content about a site)
- Large-scale domain interlinking
- Use of affiliate programs without the addition of substantial unique
content
- Use of reciprocal link programs (aka "link farms")


Will exchanging links cause yahoo to penalize your sites?
With google exchanging reciprocal relevant links isnt a problem...

I spoke with a tech support person at yahoo's overture and she said "sites with 20 or more outbound links" where not getting approved into the search engine index through site match....

should i give up on reciprical links? for fear of a yahoo ban?

I didn't know that. The next question is how does site match inclusion differ from the dynamic natural inclusion. In my case at least, I have a site that it #1 for it's term and its a topical directory with hundreds of links..but I never did the site match thing.

Ps, I've found most of the people at Yahoo Overture know less about seo than the average member here does

it is not exchanging links that is bad, it is sloppily exchanging links that is bad.

Sitematch is irrelevant. Ignore it. Yahoo will pick up your site from links on other websites.

I have many sites in the travel industry, and spend mucho $ for advertising in Google. I signed up for site-match back in April, it almost tripled my traffic from MSN and Yahoo, however, in July all of my sites were rejected and you can not find my site in yahoo or MSN by searching the url in the search bar. I do exchange links.

I bought new domains, and offer my advice to everyone not to sign-up for Overture or Site-Match.

I think that quality links from relevant sites, with unique content is the first step in building your SERPs...and Directory submission is the second.
