I don't use keywords and description meta tags. Big search engines don't use them anyway. Maybe smaller search engines still rely on them.
On the other hand, the title tag is important because search engines use this one for their own title on the results page.

it is not an important factor compare before but putting meta tags including keyword in your site can give you more good result on SE, and it can also help the users to understand you page.

Meta keywords still have a high importance but not as high as meta description.

There are other meta tags other that meta keywords that can give very important hints to bots.
I don't think meta tags are unimportant

For me meta tags and meta keywords are still all important they are still being used by some SE..and it would not hurt your site's if you put a meta tags and meta keywords on it...

Meta keyword tag is not important now. The SEs give little support for them and they will not follow this tag to rank your site.

Often search engines will use your title tags as the linked text for your site with either the whole or part of the description underneath it on the results page. A well written title tag and description can entice someone to click on your link. How many times have you searched for something and clicked on a result based on the linked text of description.
