Directories for SEO

At SEO lab I set up a list of "Best free directories". Now at Platinax I've set up a list of "Best Directories for SEO":

All of the directories listed have easily indexed pages, spiderable links, and the ability to not simply pass on PR, but also provide a good wide spread of linkage on the net.

I'll keep the list updated as required, adding new ones, and removing ones that expire or don't list submissions.

nice work! I've found tons of sites that list hundreds of directories, but its time consuming to figure out which are actually worth submitting to.

I find it a little worrying that the list is so small. I am not saying that your job is inadequate. But, I really thought that there would be a few hundred that would fit the bill.

You're welcome to add your list Aaron - I'm sure there's a few there I haven't listed yet.

The trouble is that there are so many directories that have SE unfriendly URLs, redirect links, or simply insist on reciprocal links. I don't rate any of those. I've literally gone through hundreds of sites via various lists and resources, just to narrow down just the existing list.

Aaron's list is top secret because it's part of the SEO Book.

I have done extensive research on static-URL search-engine-spiderable directories (either free or paid - not including niche, speciality or very tightly focused directories) that don't require a reciprocal link and will provide a regular html link back to your site.

I can say without a doubt there aren't many on the net. My list is hovering somewhere around 100. And yes, my list is top secret too!

A real one-way link directory list is something that is not freely shared. There are also new directories popping up all the time nowadays, especially since Bluefind. I guessing that in the next 6 months, the list will grow to well over 100.

I am up over 80 directories on the list now. I think most all of them are listed in directory archives, but it is nice to have the linear list of general directories and then just use directory archives to search for a few of the more specific niche related ones too instead of going through all the categories.

I tried to make directory archives as usable and useful as possible though. am still working on building it though...
