Question How to find missing keywords?

Last week I updated one of my pages which describes a technique ("pseudogrey") to use images with almost 2000 levels of grey. It's an old page, and until recently I hadn't thought about it a lot.

For the heck of it I did some web searches. It does ok. I was surprised to discover, though, if someone's search included the word "shade", my page would not appear. It did not contain "shade". I'm a geek -- to me "1786 levels of grey" sounds just fine.

The word "shade" has been added.

This got me thinking. How do you know if your page is being missed by some people simply because it leaves out an obvious keyword? There are tools that will report how you do for a search phrase you supply. But if you don't realize word(s) are missing to begin with, those tools wouldn't help.

you can do broad match ppc ads for more generic terms and catch some of the traffic and monitor the search queries and add some of their words to the pages.

Thanks, awall. But, um, can you say that in English? "Broad match ppc ads" to this geek sounds like I'd be doing broad comparisons of advertisements for power pc computers. (...but if it's gonna help... )

Was my question too ignorant, or just overlooked?

"ppc ads" means Pay Per Click Adverts, this means that you only pay when someone clicks on your advert. And "Broad match" refers to a method of deciding when your adverts will be shown, if someone searches for "shade" then "pseudogrey" could be considered a "broad match".

So you could use Broad Match PPC tools to find possible "missing words"...

Try this: http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/
