Does PR improve your ranking in search engines?

I think to some extent, YES but I have some websites that are with 1-2 backlinks and still ranking top for some keywords in google..
Whats your thought?

PR has nothing to do with rank in the search engine. because i had a site that has high pr but it was not in a top position. Building quality backlinks to your site can increase your position in the search engine.

I think PR is not directly related with keywords rankings as i have seen PR0 sites ranking as compared to PR5 on same niche

Hi,

There is no direct link between PR and site ranking, although it is assumed that site with high PR will also ranks well, but actually site ranking depends on many factors. There are sites which have very less number of backlinks but they rank good....and there are sites which have good quantity of backlinks but their ranking is not so good....

Yes I agree with you,

Both are very different and no directly related with each other.

If we get quality links on our targeted keywords its give ranking to our keywords.

I am well aware that there are many webmasters out there who believe that a site should have a high PR so as to rank with in the Google SERPS.

Personally I don't pay much attention to page rank as I have outranked other sites with a much higher page rank.

High PR would do you a big help for high ranking, but there are no direct relationship between two of them, because some high ranking web site may not have high PR

A site or a page with 1-2 backlinks and still ranking top for some keywords in google. Such things would only happen when the keyword is long enough or even no competitions. IMO. Nowadays, backlinks are still the decisive factor in SERP.

PR adds some advantage in the SERP rankings, however it all depends upon the optimization done for the particular keyword. It might be the case for the particular keyword, you will find the PR % web site below the PR 3 web site.

They are right there is no direct link to page rank and ranking. although two are based on getting more backlinks as to have page rank and top ranking

It becoz of quality of your site, or may low competitor to that keywords.

PR has nothing to do with SERP ranking. I have a page which has PR 0 but daily I am getting 10-15 visitors to that page and also had good SERP ranking for that keyword too.
