SEO Forum Posting
Hello,
I was thinking that leaving links or forums are counted as Spam, but it is very useful for rankings also. Why forums does not allow the links even sometimes those who don't post repetitive posts. And some people say its black hat! some people say its pure white hat. Why don't forum owners should create one section for posting links, So that no one spam the main forum all the junk links goes there and they get benefit of do-follow as well!!??
P.S: Just a thinking

Its just spam control... not everyone abuses it but the ones who do drive mods nuts.

Are you talking about people who link drop or hidden keyword drop in their posts? I've been having to deal with this heavily for the past few days now, ever since I installed a signature restriction mod for SMF and limited signatures to >15 posts, it's brought in a wave of link drop spammers.
However, we do have a forum where you can specifically promote your site, and possibly soon a place for all those with affiliate/referral stuff to do so also.
Less work on me, more happy community.

Forum links somewhat help. I think its always good to find out what forums are best for your backlink history. Some index fast and others are just a waste of your time.. stick to the ones that are good. imo

Such a practice would probably end up causing the forum to essentially be blackballed by the SEs that get picky about people doing things to artificially raise their ranks. Shortcuts are seen for exactly what they are. Better to build real organic links.

Thanks for the interesting replies, here many of SEO guys must have tried leaving signature links in forums . How successful it is after all it is counted as spam by forum admins. Recently I got one SEO project of SEO forum posting to be honest I didn't like the work at all. Some forums were on different topics which I have no idea and my posts just look like spam ones. so thought to share all this here.

Though i have a lot of forum signatures linking to my blog, i have never came across any one when i check the links to my blog or does it take a longer time for links in signatures to count as backlinks ?

Spamming a forum only to get link is considered as blackhat SEO.Always add some valuable posts in forums & take the benefit of backlinks.

I think it's win-win. People post quality posts, so it's good for the forum. Also you get to advertise your service and create backlinks. Although I have heard that after 10 backlinks from one site, anymore won't matter.

But remember something, if the forum you are posting to have "no follow" so even if you post your URL its not going to help you.

You need to mind it one thing very clearly that forums are created to share the knowledge not the links.
