Good Idea or Not?

I have heard that it is good to vary the link text that is associated with your site. I am thinking of creating some articles and having the links for the articles point to my domain instead of the actual page. The articles will be listed on the main page of the site. This way I can have many links pointing to my domain and the link text will be different. Is this a good idea?

Yes it is but only if you repeat the different keyphrases on many other domains it will actually give you noticable results for those keywords in the serps for all I know.

Yeah, the more natural looking you can build your IBL's the better... if you have 4000 IBL's all with the same anchor text, it looks a little fishy... but if you have even 3-5 different anchor texts, it looks a lot more natural (plus you'll end up rankings for more search terms.)

New guy... :-)

My first post...guess you can say I'm de-virginizing myself here.

Anyhow...this is good info. I wanted to ask a question kind of based on this.....do you think it's better to have your anchor text embedded within text....or the typical "anchor text" - description. ??? It seems more believable embedded, but I was just curious if it makes any kind of difference with ranking.

Thanks...love the forum. Been a reader for a while...figured I would start chimin in.

At this point, I don't think it matters that much... embedded would usually seem more natural, but I think # of outbound links would far out weigh context, for instance.

For articles, use your company name in the anchor text - go for your keywords in other link building - that not only helps naturalise your anchor text, but it also ensures that your company name gets due attention before a human audience, ratehr than reduce your image to a strong of words for search engines only.

Thank you for the insightful information! As smart and as much as the search engine giants change, we have to stay on top of things. So thanks for helping me "try" to keep up.
