Subdomains or Directories which can help us more?

Hi friends,

we all know that with our domains we have two options while adding more services. We can either add it as a subdomain like services.domainname or domainname/services. But I would like to know which can bring more attention? Or both have same effect?

from visitor point of view i prefer to use ( domainname/services ) because i can remmeber well and also type it fast

Yes i would also recommend domain.com/service

As a visitor, If you want to add more services then you can put your service as a subdomain. I think its easy to use and remmember your services to visitor.

I like subdomains, I think they look far better.
the only downfall they have is google will see this.site.com and that.site.com as 2 completely different sites.
If you think that is going to be an issue, I would suggest subforums.

about 5 years ago you got better rankings with a sub-domain

However it was badly abused by splog software - mass blog creation software that created a sub-domain for every keyword in your keyword list

Now I'd only use directories - but big and trusted sites like about.com do OK using sub-domains

I think services.domainname is better than domainname/services.

I am not sure about this. So made redirections to my directories to subdomains. so both are there with in the sites.
